Prof. Simon Wright is the founder of our Clinique. He also is the inventor of most of the devices and products we use here. He could have been a Nobel prize winner, in my opinion, but his physical handicap has led him to shun the company of other scientists. Who are a much more narrow-minded community than one would imagine.
His present state results from an accident he had many years ago. He hates to talk about this, so please don't ask any questions about it when you meet him. He was certainly someone whose intellect was of great value because his brain was saved and put in this hovering life support machine from which he can continue his search for knowledge.

He has been a member of the Galactic Peace Force, aboard a spaceship called The Comet. He was a close friend to his commander Captain Future, also know as Capitaine Flam. Among the ship's crew was a man named Mala who had the ability to alter his appearance at will. With hindsight, I think that this was the result of Prof Wright first experiments in the field of X-latex tech
After several years of adventuring and trouble-shooting, governmental support to the galactic peace force were reduced and The Comet disassembled for salvage parts. Captain Future married his second in command Joana and settled on a frontier world.
Prof Simon Wright had a few years in galactic universities but grew disenchanted with the unimaginative nature of his scientific colleagues who would not try to understand his theories. He says that being separated from his body gives him a better understanding of science because it brings detachment from feelings like craving for glory or titles which seems to plague the scientific community.
This assumption of his is, in fact, quite close to the oriental idea of the state of mind called Zen. After encountering a space faring adventurer called Barbarella and successfully curing her, he decided to build a clinic which would concentrate on a specific form of therapy he devised : the XS treatment.
The first person he recruited was Lady, the black gynoid who is now his second in command. Together they formed the foundation for what would become the clinic.

Prof Simon Wright doesn't get involved in the day-to-day affairs of running the Clinic if he can avoid it. He makes the major decisions but let his deputies administer La Clinique most of the time.
He is totally absorbed in his researches and works without tiring to better his methods. He still takes charge very closely of the medical branch of La Conciergerie.

As a person, Prof Simon may seem disturbingly cold and reserved. In my opinion, it is because of his physical appearance who doesn't let him express his feelings.
I know him better, though. He radiates pride and joy every time one of his patients is pronounced cured. I know he doesn't have an actual heart any more, but he really is a kind hearted person.
He may be a bit spacy and can start to talk about things which are irrelevant to the conversation, but isn't this the mark of all great scientists ? I find this fault rather cute.

There is much debate among us as to who was Prof Simon before his accident.
Theories abound on this subject. Some claim that he might even have been a woman and no longer remember it, but I find this hard to believe.
Recently, the arrival of U89, our new Professor of Proper Education (or Etiquette), raised new questions. It seems that both she and Prof. Wright have a deep respect for each other, which leads to think that they have known each other before, at least on a professional basis.
Since U89 and Gwendoline were mainly active during the 40's and 50's, before drinking from the fountain of youth, and since U89 was supposed to be working for the MI 6 at the time, it is assumed that Pr Simon was someone who lived between the 20's to the 70's, was a scientific genius and was occasionally working with spies. He was probably european also, since he decided to build La Clinique in France.
Names like James Bond, or Q, from the British MI 6 are heard quite often, even though Prof Simon's contempt for any kind of sportsmanship makes the former an improbable possibility.
The most romantic theory gives the professor the identity of Hercule Poirot, the famous Belgian detective whose death was mourned by millions of people.
The most likely identity for Prof Wright's past life, in my opinion, would be Werner Von Braun of the US space program. He was also said to have worked with the CIA on what was later known as the Roswell incident.

Anyway, today Prof Wright has chosen to turn his mind on curing metahuman and paranormal supergirls of their mental diseases and I think this is a very good choice.
