The transport pods

Those big semi transparent cylinders you see are used for transporting patients around the Clinique. They are very easy to use : you just place the subject in it, you close the door, you start the anti-grav engines and you just have to push them to destination.
This is more comfortable for the patients than having to be carried over a robot shoulder inside the corridors of La Conciergerie, while completely restrained.
It has the added benefits of greatly reducing the risk of an escape during a transfer.
Should someone else manage to gain control of the loaded pod, our security officer would cut its power and the hijacker, thief, would-be rescuer or abductor, would end up with an immobile, near impossible to open one ton cylinder to move while under fire from our guard-chans. Not an easy task.

Transport pods have some built-in options.
First, they have folding restraints made of a special alloy. They are capable of restraining the strongest unruly patient within their rigid circles.
The pods can also be filled with liquid or gas. This can be used to provide a vital atmosphere for the more exotic patient, or it can be made to further discourage any attempt at escaping. In the latter case if the gas is toxic, or if there is a risk of drowning, the patient is given a breather mask which has the bonus effect of keeping her quiet.

Last but not least, patients in the pods can be equipped with Light XS. This item radiates X-waves, just like the X-machine and is not uncomfortable at all. It greatly reduces anxiety Sometimes, patients have to wait for hours before getting their X-sessions. Some other patient may take more time to treat than what was expected, sometimes a security alert or a conference can delay the medical team, sometimes some maintenance has to be made on the hardware. It would be unethical of us to leave them stranded in the corridors for hours, alone, standing, and totally restrained. Light XS is then used to ease away their anxiety and boredom. Patients are always grateful for attention like this which makes for a more harmonious environment in La Clinique.
