Prank Day 2003

Once again the majority of activities on 2003's Prank Day had to be classified. Fortunately enough happened before the Merry Pranksters got busy that I've got some stories to tell. Things got off to an early start when badge number 53 of the Jennies started her morning rounds. As had been happening far too often recently she had begun her patrol after the sun rose rather than before counting on her literal and figurative sisters-in-arms to cover for her tardiness. Blood being thicker than water the other Jennies had been but it was becoming obvious to them that these late starts stemmed from laziness rather than sleep related problems. To make matters worse she had drawn the attention of both Pumas by gossiping a bit too much about Security Department matters to other staff members. When the rumours she started got back to them they went looking for the source which wasn't too hard to find. Uni wanted to start issuing demerits but Ani decided while that might make her a bit more cautious temporarily to change her ways permenantly a short sharp shock would be more effective. Which was why this particular Jenny ran into Ani and Armitage while loitering in a quiet corridor.
With
Armitage's help it was simple for Ani to subdue and process this new patient. Ani's theory was that spending a day muzzled in a nice quiet room would teach her the value of silence and the consequences of being slow to make her rounds. As Ani mentioned to her if she had followed her patrol schedule she would have been in a public area by then and they wouldn't have been able to make her disappear for the day. I suspect Ani also mentioned that this sort of thing didn't have to be limited to april first since that particular Jenny has stopped rumour-mongering and hasn't been late for her shift since Prank Day. Ani wasn't the only one to get an early start in her pranking. When Dr. Ritsuko Akagi entered her office Dr. Jamadagni Renuka was already there waiting for her. Ritsuko had been out all night and was planning to change into her work clothes then get busy in the Computer Center. All she was thinking about was freshening up and getting her morning coffee, the significance of the date was lost on her. It wasn't lost on Dr. Renuka who had been looking for some payback on Dr. Akagi since she organized her Institute initiation at the Halloween Party. Dr. Akagi walked right past the lurking therapist and into the full bathroom suite attached to her office. As a Department Head she rates that kind of personal facility rather than sharing the staff locker room. On a practical level after she's been pulled some of her infamous all nighters working on the Magi she can collapse on her office's foldout couch. Thanks to the bathroom when the job's a long haul she can use the office as an apartment so she can clean up and get right back to work once the exhaustion fades. She's commented that it's a lot more relaxing to have everything there ready for her rather than waiting in line. On this particular morning she hit the shower and was towelling off when Dr. Renuka quietly opened the door and tapped her with the stun wand she had borrowed from a Black Orderly. Dr. Akagi collapsed instantly but Dr. Renuka caught her before she could hit the tile floor. She finished drying her off then got to work wrapping her in the new Surgi-Wrap (surgical sealing) tape. This wasn't primarily designed as a restraint but as tests in the Quality Assurance Department demonstrated it can be effective on those without paranormal abilities or advanced fighting skills. Regardless it was initially created for medical usage as a "super" bandage. It binds to the skin and shifts colour to match the patient's skin pigmentation to make itself less noticeable and serves as a more effective alternative to stiches. It's water proof and will stay securely fixed until moistened with the adhesive removal compound. It's also oxygen permeable so it won't impair breathing if used on an oral or nasal wound. Of course the same applies if it's used as a gag. Not that Dr. Renuka did anything as simple as mummifying Dr. Akagi in the surgical wrap. Technically she didn't restrain her at all, just wrapped her in Surgi-Wrap from the tips of her toes to her hairline. Which must have left Dr. Akagi looking like a mannikin version of herself. Then Dr. Renuka dressed her in the fresh clothes she had laid out for after her shower and as Ritsuko started to stir she lead her into the Computer Center.
Unable to see or grasp the tape (not that she could have pulled it off anyway) but hearing and recognising the machine hum of her workplace
Dr. Akagi began cautiously moving around the room seeking for one of her staff to help her. Except she wasn't having any luck and probably assumed they had also been pranked. In fact there were plenty of them about but they were staying out of her way and trying not to giggle. They had made a deal with Dr. Renuka and intended to enjoy it. The deal had been simple, if they got her into Ritsuko's office she would pull a prank on their boss that they could all enjoy. Which they proceeded to do until they were subdued by another prankster a couple of hours later. They had been intending to release her by noon but Ritsuko wound up staying bandaged until the afternoon when she was also the victim of another prankster. I gather her condition complicated things but the top of her head was vulnerable to skin contact. Sorry, I can't explain that. Anyway that's enough about that particular prank. Excuse me? What happened to Jamadagni? Oh, they got her too. "They" being the Merry Pranksters, an unoffical group who likes Prank Day perhaps a bit too much considering how much they plan for it. But that's enough about them. Well that's about all I can say about Prank day 2003 without straying into classified matters and sadly that also applies to Prank Day 2004 which is a shame because it was a day I'll long remember. Though I suppose I can give you a quick peek at this picture I took on April 1st.

Prank Day 2004

I wish I could tell you more but once again proprietry technology was involved so like everyone in the picture (except the pets) my lips are sealed. So it's time to leave this topic and move on. What would like to do next?
Would you like to hear about some of the events on earlier Prank Days? Perhaps you'd like to hear about staff pranking on our more typical days? There were quite a few pranks pulled at the 2003 Halloween Party If not there's still a lot of ground left to cover.

Would you'd like to meet the Support Staff workers who pull these pranks on one another? Or our doctors and nurses who also pull the odd prank? Even the members of our involuntary patient acquisition team pull the odd practical joke As do our Physical Trainers Pranking is something of a way of life among our Training Staff And our student interns are learning to prank Or we could change the subject entirely and I could give you the scoop on our advances in humane capture technology Alternately some visitors have been fascinated by the specifics of our patient restraint and control equipment Others have wanted to hear all about our use of robotics If you insist we could take a look at our underground high security storage facility Of course you can always return to the Open Wards Finally there's one more option. The place most everyone wants to see.

Do you still want to see the Grimbor Ward?

If you really want you can return to the Lobby
Or we can end the tour
