A unique entity, due to its creation resulting from an accidental
collision, the artificial intelligence designated as Nomad arrived at the
Institute unintentionally by crashlanding here in the wake of a very large
explosion.
Nomad's unexpected arrival caused Security to assume that the Institute was
under attack by hostile forces and a Red Alert was issued. This resulted in
an initial period of confusion and chaos (the details of which have been
classified since it's never wise to detail potential security flaws) which was
resolved by a meeting between Mr. Chainsman and Nomad.
Following this meeting Nomad requested to stay at the Institute while it
gathered data for its study on the human condition and Mr. Chainsman agreed.
Since Nomad is self contained and has no material needs a locker in the
Orderlies Changing Room was designated as its resting place while not hovering
through the Institute studying our staff and residents.
Nomad has a particular fascination with the human concept of freedom and
the struggle to realise this aim. This in turn has lead to a fascination
with the escape artist Houdini-chan Brande.
Formerly our most wanted escapee and now a trustee and a valuable
resource for our Quality Assurance & Training Department Brande has definite
and distinct ideas about freedom which Nomad enjoys exploring.
For her part Brande considers Nomad as cute and lots of fun even if
occasionally troublesome. Rather like a younger brother who's a bit too hung
up on playing his own version of cowboys and indians.
Despite causing occasional complications to the work and personal lives
of our staff Mr. Chainsman finds Nomad to be a valuable resouce and is proud
to have him as an associate of the Institute.
