The Chainsman Institute's Internship Program

Several months ago we initiated our new Internship program for students (and more recently for patients deemed well on the road to recovery. In fact we introduced the first members of internship program to the staff at our 2004 Halloween Party. In some ways it's unfortunate they were all intensely pranked that night before they could meet everyone but on the other hand it certainly helped prepare them for some of the unexpected events that can befall our staff. Since that night they've certainly been more on their guard which their mentor feels is the right attitude to have around here as it makes them more security conscious. Speaking of their mentor before you meet the interns I'd like to introduce you to the head of our Internship program

Internship Program Director

Goei Sonsaku
Mrs. Sonsaku was the perfect choice for this position, a strict disciplinarian but firm enough with the interns to keep all these high spirited girls inclined to stay on the straight and narrow so they don't have to be discplined too often. However she's not always the Iron Lady and is ready there with a shoulder to cry on whenever things get too much for our young interns. She's just the right blend of mother figure and dominatrix to inspire our Interns to excel in this program. Incidentally in case you'd wondering about the brush her hobby is calligraphy and she's taken to using interns who are getting close to earning demerits as her canvas as a warning to straighten up before she has to deal with them sternly. You might also be interested to know that it was Mrs. Sonsaku who chose green as the colour of the Interns uniforms saying it was symbolic of their attitudes and talents when they enter the program until they graduate to one of our full staff colours. Also she thinks she looks great in green. Anyway let's meet the first members of the internship program

The Interns

Left to Right - Techna, Mirta, Flora, Bloom, Stella, Musa, Layla
You'll notice that while on first glance their uniforms seem identical there's some variety among the scarves they're wearing. This isn't simply a matter of personal taste, rather it indicates their assigned duties. For example you'll notice that Techna is wearing a white scarf which means that because of her technical knowledge she's been assigned to the Whites who maintain the computer centre for Doctor Akagi. Flora is an expert with plants so she's wearing a pink scarf to indicate that she's been assigned to the Groundskeeping division of the Pinks. Unlike them Mirta, Musa and Layla lack specific skills so they wear black scarves to indicate that they've been assigned to general duties among the Blacks. If any of them show real talent for this sort of work they may be able to wrangle reassignment to the Blues. With White, Black and Pink being our largest staff groups they're where we expect the majority of our interns to serve but there are exceptions. Case in point you'll notice that Stella is trying to hide her purple scarf. As soon as she arrived Stella began agitiating to be assigned to the Golds. I suspect it might have been more because she thought they had the best uniforms than a desire to seek out potential patients. In any event she caused so much trouble trying (and failing) to show that she was suited to work with the Golds that it was decided to assign her to the Quality Assurance Department as a Tester where she could put all that hyperactivity to good use trying to break free of restraints. The other exception is Bloom who you see in the center of the group wearing a red scarf. That's a mark of distinction that has to be earned by hard work and demonstrating comendable versatility, both of which Bloom has accomplished. It means that she is free to choose the department she will work in and the duties she'll be assigned. Currently she's studying electronics with the Pinks and next week she's going to take a try at being middle management with the Whites. While Bloom and her friends were the first to be admitted to the Internship program they were not the last. Since then the scope of the program has expanded though before we explore this let's take a long at another Intern admitted into the program under the old rules.

Jinx
Jinx still isn't sure about the uniform but she's told us that it's a small price to pay if she can keep an eye on her two old friends Raven and Starfire and be sure that they're well taken care of here and aren't discharged prematurely. She's very worried that they'll released before they've completed therapy and while they're still capable of violence and has vowed to make sure that doesn't happen. It's touching to see friendship like that don't you think? Anyway as I was saying we've
expanded our Internship program and added positions for both former and current patients interested in interning and judged capable of doing so without risk to themselves or others.

Like to see how the expanded Internship program is working?

If not then there are several other options Perhaps you'd care to meet the support staff our Interns are training under? As I mentioned earlier there are three major Departments, Patient & Outreach Services, Computer & Technical Services and the Security Department. Also you might want to meet the Couriers who are close to the same age as our interns At the moment no-one is interning as a Physical Therapist Or under our medical staff Because of their strict requirements currently nobody is interning with our Involuntary Patient Acquisition Team Perhaps you'd like a word with the Quality Assurance and Training Staff whom Stella's interning with? Changing the topic would you like to drop by the recreational lounge where we hold our staff parties?. Our interns made their debut at the 2004 Halloween Party. Or would you rather hear the scoop on our advances in humane capture technology Alternately some visitors have been fascinated by the specifics of our patient restraint and control equipment Others have wanted to hear all about our use of robotics Then there were those who were more interested in the human interest angle of our friendly staff rivalries If you insist we could take a look at our underground high security storage facility Of course you can always return to the Open Wards Finally there's one more option. The place most everyone wants to see.

Do you still want to see the Grimbor Ward?

If you really want you can return to the Lobby

Or we can end the tour
