Ann O'Nymus - Occult Sciences Researcher

Originally a citizen of Ireland Ms. Ann O'Nymus relocated to America when she heard from her old friend Professor Simon Wright that the Chainsman Institute was recruiting specialists to aid in our research of the (so called) "supernatural" and its influence on the human (and nonhuman) mind. Originally all matters related to this field were dealt with by Dr. Sebastian and his assistant Erica but as the Institute grew so did their workload to the point that the department had to be expanded. Ms O'Nymus was one of the first additions to the enlarged Occult Sciences Centre and was assigned both research and security support duties. She quickly proved herself adept at both tasks. As a researcher she assists in the study and rehablitation of patients suffering from "spritual" influence and abilities. She also expands our knowledge base in this area because while there is a lot of literature on this subject and the Institute has amassed a library of many classic and rare works the majority are tarnished by the superstitious beliefs of their authors. Ms. O'Mymus has been very successful in conducting experiments to glean the useful information from the books begin to compiling the Institute's Database of Supernatural Entities and Phenomena or "Grimoire" as the more traditionally minded members of the Department like to call it. She also aids our Security Staff in subduing "spiritual entities", a name we continue to use in the absence of adequete scientific terminology. She has proven highly successful in this regard though she has commented that it would simplify matters if she had personal assistants rather than having to quickly brief and use whatever Security personnel or Orderlies are nearest to the paranormal incident. This is currently under review but I expect the budget can be amended to fund aides for Ms. O'Nymus. A large part of the reason for Ms. O'Nymus' success rate is her natural charisma and aura of authority. When she takes charge of a situation the personal she commands usually obey her unquestioningly regardless of her orders. Which while always effective in the long run can sometimes seem somewhat bizarre in the short term. Added to that the commanding nature of her personality has enabled her to overcome "poltergeists" and other "spiritual entities" by sheer force of will without the need for using any of the more traditional tools of "exorcism" and "binding rites". The upshot of which is that while a recent addition to our staff we expect Ms. Ann O'Nymus to become an integral part of it.
